If all you've got is the flex shaft handpiece, then the 1 inch wheels will be fine. It's just sometimes a bit slower, or harder to get larger surfaces evenly buffed. Bigger is better with buffing motors. You do want, generally, a 3450 rpm motor, not a slower one, unless you're planning on using 8″ or larger buffs.
